How the estimates are built

PS5 and Series X install size: No official size yet. Upcomer reported a pre-release leak of nearly 200 GB, and HowToPlayHub puts the community estimate at 150–200 GB. The "677 GB" figure shared on social media has no source. GameCryst calls 228 GB "verified" and credits Rockstar Support and the PlayStation Store, but neither listed a size when we checked on October 22, 2026. Series S install size: Microsoft said in 2020 that Series S installs average about 30 % smaller than on Series X, because developers leave out the highest-resolution textures. We take 30 % off the Series X estimate. Rockstar could also ship one package for both consoles. Day-one patch: Driffle estimates 15–30 GB and Stealthy Gaming 15–50 GB. We use the wider range. Safety margin: 10 % of install plus patch. Our own rule of thumb. Consoles stage a download before unpacking it, and patches after launch need room too. PC install size: The console estimate multiplied by 1.2–1.5: the ratio between Rockstar's PC storage requirements and the console installs of GTA V and RDR2. PC requirements include room for installing and patching.

Usable console storage is what reviewers measured on fresh consoles at launch, in the units the console shows. Console prices are the list prices Sony announced and the press reported for Microsoft at our last check. Product read speeds are manufacturer ratings.
