- 848 GB R
- GTA 6 needs (worst case + margin)
- 275 GB (32 % of an empty drive)
All four target the same 30 fps, so the differences you can measure today are storage and price. Side by side, with a recommendation for each kind of buyer.
Most room: PS5 Pro
1,890 GB usable, and Digital Foundry expects it to have the sharpest image. It costs $899.99 and still runs at 30 fps.
Best value: PS5 Slim or Series X
Same frame-rate target as the Pro, 802 GB to 848 GB usable, and both take a storage upgrade later. Pick by the library you already own.
Budget: Series S, with a caveat
The 512 GB model leaves 364 GB, of which GTA 6 needs 209 GB with the patch. Fine as a GTA 6 machine, tight as a library; the 1 TB model fixes that.
Console prices change often, so the button opens the current Amazon listing instead of a price that may be out of date. Badges and sources apply to each cell.

At US list price, the Xbox Series S (512 GB) is the cheapest console that runs GTA 6: $499.99 R source. It has 364 GB usable, and the game needs 209 GB of it with the patch and margin, which leaves 155 GB for everything else. The cheapest PlayStation is the PlayStation 5 Slim (2023, 1 TB) at $649.99 C source.
The Check price buttons in the table above open the current Amazon listing, where the price can differ from the list price. If you pick a model with a small drive, budget for storage later: an Xbox expansion card or an M.2 SSD for PS5.
Rockstar has committed to 30 fps C source on consoles, and no 60 fps or 40 fps mode has been announced for any of them. Digital Foundry rates 60 fps on the PS5 Pro as extremely unlikely, because the Pro's CPU is only about 7 % faster than the base PS5's R source. Digital Foundry expects the Pro to spend its extra GPU power on image quality: PSSR reconstruction and better ray-traced lighting. Whether that is visible on your TV from your sofa is a question for the first comparisons.
GTA 6 is a one-drive game: it has to live on the internal SSD, on a PS5 M.2 SSD, or on an Xbox expansion card. On the PS5 Pro that is never a problem. On the 825 GB PS5, the 1 TB PS5 Slim and the 1 TB Series X it is a problem only if your library is already full. On the 512 GB Series S it is the main thing to plan for, and an expansion card is the extra cost to budget.
On PlayStation you can choose any M.2 drive that meets Sony's spec, so you can shop on price. Xbox accepts only the licensed cards from Seagate and WD. See the PS5 SSD guide and the Xbox expansion guide.
