GTA 6 FPS and performance on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S

GTA 6 runs at 30 fps on every console, PS5 Pro included. Rockstar has not announced a 60 fps or 40 fps mode, and Digital Foundry rates 60 fps on PS5 Pro as extremely unlikely. Resolution, modes and load times wait for launch-day measurements; each cell below is marked confirmed, reported or pending.

Will GTA 6 have a 60 fps or 40 fps mode?

Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, said the game runs at 30 fps C source on consoles and that any 60 fps option would be a decision for the technical team, at launch or later. No performance mode has been announced. Digital Foundry's analysis of the Extended Look footage called a 60 fps console version "extremely unlikely": the CPU and GPU budgets are already full at 30 fps, and the PS5 Pro's CPU is only about 7 % faster than the base console, which is not enough to double the frame rate R source.

One Digital Foundry panelist suggested a 40 fps mode for 120 Hz screens on some consoles. Rockstar has not promised one. We will add the real options from the settings menu to the table on launch day.

GTA 6 on PS5 Pro: sharper image, same 30 fps

From the trailer footage, Digital Foundry estimated a native internal resolution of about 1440p on the base PS5 with no dynamic resolution scaling and no obvious temporal upscaler R source. The footage appeared to run on a base PS5, and Pure Xbox, reporting on the analysis, expects similar results on Xbox Series X.

The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced C source, and Rockstar has not said what the Pro version changes. Digital Foundry expects the extra GPU power to go into PSSR reconstruction, better ray-traced lighting and cleaner fine detail, while the frame rate stays the same. No footage has been identified as Series S.

Which console runs GTA 6 best?

Until there are measurements, every console targets the same 30 fps, and Digital Foundry expects the PS5 Pro to have the sharpest image. Storage and price are the differences you can measure today; the best console comparison lays them out with sources.

How much room GTA 6 leaves on each console is on its own page: GTA 6 on PS5, on PS5 Pro, on Xbox Series X and on Xbox Series S.
